Released in 1982, Blade Runner reimagined the conventions of classic film noir for a futuristic age. Drawing inspiration from Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, director Ridley Scott created a visually groundbreaking vision of the future that has influenced generations of filmmakers. This screening presents The Final Cut, Scott’s definitive 2007 version of the film, featuring restored visuals and refinements made over two decades after its original release.
In the dystopian Los Angeles of 2019, former blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is reluctantly pulled back into service to track down and eliminate four escaped replicants, bioengineered beings who have returned to Earth after fleeing the off-world colonies. As his investigation leads him to the powerful Tyrell Corporation, Deckard encounters Rachael (Sean Young), an advanced replicant whose presence begins to blur the line between hunter and hunted. Featuring performances by Rutger Hauer as the replicant leader Roy Batty and Edward James Olmos as the enigmatic Gaff, the film brings together one of the most celebrated ensembles in science fiction cinema.
