The Warriors

Released in 1979, The Warriors reimagined New York City as a battleground where every neighborhood belongs to a different gang. Directed by Walter Hill and adapted from Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel, the film’s bold visual style and unforgettable characters have made it one of the most influential cult films of the late twentieth century.

The film follows a turf battle between New York City street gangs that rages from Coney Island to the Bronx. The Warriors are mistakenly fingered for the killing of a gang leader. Soon they have every gang in the city out to get revenge, and they must make their way across the city to their own turf.
