Something Wild
Directed by Jonathan Demme (1986)
Jonathan Demme’s Something Wild begins as an offbeat romantic road movie before taking a sharp turn into violent thriller with the arrival of Ray Liotta, in his first major film role. Melanie Griffith’s Lulu offers a distinctly 1980s variation on the femme fatale, drawing the straight-laced Charles (Jeff Daniels) out of his ordinary life and into increasingly dangerous territory.
Free-spirited Lulu (Melanie Griffith) sets her sights on uptight banker Charles (Jeff Daniels) for a little bit of fun. Their relationship starts off simple enough with a tryst and some modest adventure, but Lulu wants Charles to pose as her husband at a high school reunion. It seems harmless enough to Charles, but that all changes when Lulu's actual husband, Ray (Ray Liotta), confronts them at the event. Understandably, Ray isn't content to let Charles and Lulu ride off into the sunset.

Summer Noir
May – October, 2026
Sag Harbor Cinema turns its focus this summer to film noir – one of Hollywood’s most seductive and ever-evolving languages. Spanning the shadow-soaked fatalism of the 1940s and ‘50s to its sharper, colder reinvention in the late 20th and 21st centuries, SHC’s Summer Noir series traces the genre’s evolution from its classic roots to modern incarnations.
This repertory program is co-presented with the kind support of the SHS Foundation.
