FINAL CUT | 4K RESTORATION | 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Micahel Mann’s 1986 Manhunter marked the first screen adaptation of Thomas Harris’s novel Red Dragon (1981), introducing audiences to Dr. Hannibal Lecter years before The Silence of the Lambs. Mann brought his distinctive visual style to the psychological thriller, helping to shape the modern serial killer thriller.
FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (William Petersen) is called out of early retirement to assist on a serial murder case involving a killer known as the “Tooth Fairy” (Tom Noonan). Graham enlists the help of imprisoned serial killer — and cannibal — Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Brian Cox), who is the reason Graham took an early retirement. Soon, Graham and the FBI are entangled in a deadly cat-and-mouse game between the Tooth Fairy, Lecter and an interfering journalist (Stephen Lang).

Sag Harbor Cinema turns its focus this summer to film noir – one of Hollywood’s most seductive and ever-evolving languages. Spanning the shadow-soaked fatalism of the 1940s and ‘50s to its sharper, colder reinvention in the late 20th and 21st centuries, SHC’s Summer Noir series traces the genre’s evolution from its classic roots to modern incarnations.
