Adapted by Gillian Flynn from her bestselling 2012 novel, the film updates classic noir themes for the age of news, social media, and twenty-four-hour scrutiny.
On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) returns home to find that his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has vanished. As investigators, reporters, and a fascinated public descend on their small Missouri town, Nick becomes the focus of mounting suspicion. With each new revelation, the story of the Dunnes’ marriage grows more complicated, raising unsettling questions about love, truth, and the carefully constructed personas people present to the world. The cast also includes Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens and Emily Ratajkowski.
