Kids and Families Weekend Matinees

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.” – Alice, Alice in Wonderland

Join us for the first of our kids and family classics matinees as we fall down the rabbit hole all over again in Disney’s animated classic, Alice in Wonderland, on its 70th Anniversary.

Walt Disney had already explored Lewis Carroll’s adventuresome heroine in the early twenties, with a hybrid live action/animation series, Alices’ Wonderland. Given the tight control the Carroll estate exercised on its property, Disney never really warmed up to this 1951 animated feature adaptation, which was designed by the best animators in the studio, the legendary Nine Old Men. Despite being nominated for an Academy Award, the film was hardly a box office success, but gained widespread popularity after students rediscovered it in the sixties and seventies and appreciated the colorful psychedelics.
